The turfgrass research and education facility is located at 395 Greenmead Drive on the northern edge of University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) campus in Prince George's County. It occupies 35 acres of land.
The main thrust of the research concerns turfgrass but there are also studies looking at finite-difference magnetic gradiometer detection, the development of a low-cost wood vault system and the establishment of pollinator meadows. See the latest issue of Roots in Research for the latest research projects under way at the facility.
- Dr. Mark Carroll - Nutrient Management and Organic Turf Care
- Dr. Daniel Buonaiuto - Plant Ecology and Weed management
- Geoffrey Rinehart – Turfgrass Variety Trails and IAA (2 year) Turf Program
All turf faculty conduct research at the Paint Branch facility and are active in Extension education. The turf farm is utilized for hands-on education of all aspects of turf management and turf science.
