Dr. Jesse M. Ketterman, Jr. joined the University of Maryland Extension Office in 2016 as a Family and Consumer Science Educator serving Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties. His work emphasis is financial and health insurance literacy. Dr. Ketterman began his career with the University System of Maryland in 1999 at Frostburg State University, advancing to the role of Dean of Students and Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs leading wellness-related initiatives. Dr. Ketterman is an Accredited Financial Counselor and earned a PhD in educational leadership from Touro University International, master’s degrees in business administration and education from Frostburg State University, and a bachelor of science in business from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Dr. Ketterman was recognized by CASH Campaign Maryland Council on Economic Education, and the Maryland State Department of Education with the Community Champion Award in the Financial Education and Capability Awards Program, the Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educator for the Year from the NEAFCS MD Affiliate Chapter, Extension Educator of the Year from the Maryland Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from Frostburg State University, VIP by 40 by the Maryland Daily Record, and Mid-Level Professional of the Year by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. A military veteran, he was also recognized by the Department of the Army with the US Army Commendation Medal and the US Army Achievement Medal.
