Preparing Visual Aids
  • Easy to read text
  • Bold colors
  • Horizontal, well-edited and illustrative
  • Font size= 24 point
  • Margins=1 inch
  • If you take your visual and place it on the floor, you should be able to read it from where you are standing.

 

The Speaker

  • Wear pastel colors
  • Avoid large plaids and prints
  • Avoid white and red clothing
  • Don't shout
  • Confirm that the other site can see and hear you
  • Appoint a leader at each site to distribute materials
  • Allow the other site/person to finish speaking before you start to speak  
  • Before sending slides, announce your intention
  • Don't be afraid to communicate or appear in front of the camera
  • Speak in a normal voice
  • Keep table noise to a minimum
  • Don't hesitate to ask for repetition if you missed something important
  • Notify the instructor immediately if you can't see or hear.  Wave to get attention, hold up a sign or put it on the Elmo to project, use the telephone to call the speaker's site
