EFNEP Success Stories

Submitted by Extension Nutrition Assistant,
Christine Trice - Wicomico County

Ms. D. came as a referral from the Homeless Coalition. She has secured a really nice apartment and members of her church are taking shifts caring for her three children while she is at work.

Her problem was feeding her children. They were wrecking her budget by asking for three different meals each a day, and her food stamps were not lasting the month. I suggested she let each child have her choice twice a week and help plan the meals. This has been time-saving as well as energy-saving for Mom. The food stamps are lasting the whole month and everybody is happy!
