Interactive Video Classroom
Interactive video is a compressed, full-motion 2-way live audio-video system that allows different sites to interact in real time. This technology allows for multiple sites at different locations to be linked together simultaneously.
Interactive video allows for classes or meetings to be delivered to individuals who are located at different sites throughout the state of Maryland, providing increased access to students or participants who might otherwise be unable to attend a face-to-face meeting. Interactive video also allows participants to reduce travel time and save on travel expenses. The IVN facility may be scheduled online by using the links to the left.
Teaching Theater
The Teaching Theater is a networked classroom with a broad array of highly integrated audiovisual equipment to facilitate active teaching and learning. A network of computers using a variety of courseware to support instruction and research provide advanced educational technology for resident, as well as distance students. The Plant Sciences Teaching Theater complex is now accepting proposals for the Fall 2009 semester on a space available basis. The campus Teaching Facilities Committee requires that you submit a proposal for use of these facilities one full year in advance. Proposals may be submitted electronically to the Office of Information Technology at: http://www.oit.umd.edu/TT/scheduling.htm
Priority will be given to academic courses. AGNR and LFSC are guaranteed 3-4 courses in the Teaching Theater and up to 30 hours per week in the Interactive Video Classroom.
