Target Audience: Frederick County 4-H Volunteers Length: 3 hours Learning Objective: As part of the the volunteer’s orientation and training, they will be introduced to the Maryland Cooperative Extension Service including the University of Maryland at College Park and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Maryland Tort Claims Act will be explained and the University policies related to HIV/Aids, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Tobacco and Smoking Policy, Child Protection and Abuse Reporting, Sexual Harassment, Affirmative Action and ADA Policies. Universal Health Care Precautions against communicable diseases and Risk Management procedures will be explained in detail. In addition, training that specifically relates to the job description will be provided. Description: All Maryland Cooperative Extension volunteers must meet the requirements of the MCE Volunteer Policy including 4-H leaders, Master Gardeners and Financial Counselors. Becoming a MCE Volunteer authorizes you to perform services on behalf of Extension and provides you with protection under the Maryland Tort Claims Act. Becoming a MCE Volunteer does not create an employer/employee relationship between Maryland Cooperative Extension, the University of Maryland System and its volunteers.
