Frederick County Master Gardeners are volunteer representatives of the Maryland Cooperative Extension. Their mission is to educate residents about effective and sustainable horticultural practices that build healthy gardens, landscapes and communities. They base their knowledge on their own experience as gardeners as well as both classroom and hands-on training provided by the Maryland Cooperative Extension and University of Maryland.

Frederick County Master Gardeners offer plant clinics, host information booths, maintain display gardens, offer horticultural therapy at area nursing homes, write a gardening column for the Frederick News-Post , offer a Junior Master Gardener program, and speak to schools and local groups on a variety of gardening topics.
