Agriculture & Natural Resources

Terry will be working on a part-time basis.

Frederick County's rich agricultural industry relies heavily on the latest techniques and methods in production, marketing, and management. University of Maryland Extension Frederick County relays the latest information from the lab to farmers. Terry Poole, Agriculture Agent, provides assistance to farmers throughout the county in making the most of the farm operation.

Current projects include scheduled classes which allow farmers to receive training or recertification for plant nutrient applicator vouchers.  Another Farmer Training Certification course will be offered this fall which will allow farmers to become certified to write their own nutrient management plan.  Terry Poole will offer a daytime version of his nationally recognized small farm course this fall; this course will provide instruction on pasture development and management, Ag marketing, crop production, farm safety, enterprise selection, and much more.  The upcoming programs recognize the ongoing urbanization of Frederick County and the need to diversify agricultural production.  Also, this fall there will be a small farm conference with the Maryland Small Farm Cooperative.
