Carroll Outdoor Research & Extension Center

The Carroll Outdoor Research & Extension Center, started in February of 2006, is used in a cross specialty (4-H, Ag, FSNE and Nutrient Management) program offered by the Carroll County Extension Office. At this facility, developmentally disabled adults who attend various programs at the ARC, TARGET and CHANGE Vocational and Transitional Centers, are able to learn to grow what they eat and experience it hands on. The clients follow the food full cycle; they decide what to plant, plant the seeds, maintain the garden, harvest the growth and make the meal. The program started from a small plot out back of the office with one group of clients. This new facility opens up a multitude of opportunities for a larger number of clients.
