About the LEAD Maryland Foundation, Inc.

Education is essential to develop leaders and to determine the direction of Maryland agriculture. The LEAD Maryland program is designed for men and women with leadership potential who are involved with the production of agriculture, or have careers or activities related to agriculture, natural resources, or rural communities.

LEAD awards educational two-year fellowships to individuals. Successful candidates have demonstrated emerging leadership abilities as well as a genuine interest in agricultural, natural resources, and public issues. Fellows attend a series of multi-day seminars held at various locations around the state and Washington DC. Leading the seminars are industry leaders, state and national agency representatives, professional trainers and university faculty.

Fellows learn through lecture, presentations, discussion, self-assessments, reflection, readings, projects, group activities, and local tours. Fellows complete a domestic and/or international travel study designed to help participants compare and contrast political, economic, social, cultural, and other issues.

Please view our 2011 Annual Report.

The knowledge and information that is offered would be next to impossible to acquire on your own. The sessions provide us with the tools to become leaders in all aspects of our own life. With only half of the program completed, I have already become involved in local and state organizations - I know that I would not have without attending LEAD Maryland.
