Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education

Since 1988, the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program has helped advance farming systems that are profitable, environmentally sound and good for communities through a nationwide research and education grants program. The program, part of USDA's Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, funds projects and conducts outreach designed to improve agricultural systems.

National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT)

Since 1976 the National Center for Appropriate Technology has been serving economically disadvantaged people by providing information and access to appropriate technologies that can help improve their lives. During the organization's rich and varied history, NCAT projects have ranged from low-tech to high-tech, addressing complex issues of housing, economics, and environmental quality. Weatherizing houses, training farmers, monitoring energy use, demonstrating renewable energy technology, testing new products and providing information on building construction are just a few of the many ways that NCAT has contributed to fostering healthy communities and a better quality of life for everyone. 

Mid-Atlantic Small Farm Success Project

A coalition of land grant universities, USDA, and nonprofit organizations in the Mid-Atlantic region is dedicated to helping small and emerging farmers improve their financial success. With funding from the USDA's IFAFS (Initiative for Future Agricultural Food Systems) program, the coalition developed an initiative entitled, The Small Farm Success Project.

The Accokeek Foundation at Piscataway Park

The Accokeek Foundation stewards 200 acres of Piscataway Park, a national park located in Accokeek, Maryland, on the shore of the Potomac River directly across from Mount Vernon. Our land serves as an outdoor classroom for our educational programs, research, agricultural and conservation projects. The park is open to the public year 'round.
 
Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture

Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture

The Kerr Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit educational foundation established in 1985. The home office, farm, and ranch are located near Poteau in southeastern Oklahoma. The Kerr Center also operates a historical farm and museum near Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The mission of the Kerr Center is to assist in developing sustainable food and farming systems.
