CAEM is a collaborative effort between AGNR and the MDA to coordinate communication and education efforts for the agricultural community to insure the agricultural and food security of the state and the nation.
CAEM will capitalize on university research including the federal Homeland Security Centers of Excellence as well as other resources. AGNR teaching and extension activities as well as MDA’s plant and animal surveillance, regulatory and laboratory activities put us in a unique position to enhance our agricultural community’s preparation, response and recovery to food security breaches.
For every dollar in grant money received by the Center for Agrosecurity and Emergency Management, Maryland gets over two dollars in value. In times of emergency, this value will be even greater.
