Maryland State Strengthening Project
A community empowerment project
funded by the Children, Youth and Families at Risk Initiative (CYFAR)
of the United States Department of Agriculture
and conducted by
Building Strong Communities in Maryland brings together the 4H and Family and Consumer Sciences programs through Maryland Cooperative Extension to strengthen vulnerable communities through leadership devlepment, citizen empowerment, youth involvement and the mobilization of community resources to support local needs. The 5 year project is currently operating in two sites: Baltimore City - at the Pleasant View Gardens community and in Charles County at the Samuel Mudd elementary school community.
