Program
This program is a reciprocal exchange program coordinated by the Maryland 4-H Youth Development Program and the National Federation of YOung Farmers' Clubs, England and Wales. Partial sponsorship is provided by the Maryland 4-H Foundation and county/city extension offices.The goals of the program are to enable participants to:
- Learn about the way of life in another country (the work, cultue, people, etc.) not as a tourist but as a member of a family.
- Develop and enhance life skills, specifically Decision Making, Acquiring Knowledge, Communicating, Understanding Self and Getting Along With Others.
- Make new friends.
- Promote 4-H and the exchange program during their stay and upon returning home.
- Learn about the Young Farmers' Clubs movement.
The program is 6 weeks in length. Participants normally stay with 2-3 host families
