What Can I Do in 4-H?

4-H has something for everyone.
There are activities for just about any interest.

Maryland's Bicycle Safety program incorporates the knowledge of many experts to teach youth the importance of safety when bicycling. The Maryland State Police, 4-H, and local bicycling businesses and groups network their resources to help children ride and play safely. In this photograph, a state trooper inspects a 4-H members bicycle for safety. Bicycle rodeos are held on local levels. The winners progress to state and national competition.
4-H provides much more than an informal education in areas of interest to members. Through 4-H, members gain many important life skills. Here an older member demonstrates the leadership skills he has learned as he helps a younger member with her activity. The Maryland 4-H Camping Program, shown here, gives youth the confidence and skills they need to become leaders through camp leadership positions. Older youth help teach classes, provide leadership in tribes, and assist adult cabin leaders in duties in the cabin.

Maryland 4-H Youth Development programs and activities are open to all youth between the ages of 5 and 18 without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, or national origin.
