Live with a French family or student. Sample the finest French food and wine. Learn about French history and culture... and maybe even learn a little of the language. Gain experience in:

The summer international program at the Ecole Superieure de Agriculture in Angers, France is waiting for you. The living-learning experience begins Friday, May 28, 2010 and ends on Friday, June 25, 2010. If you like, you may stay for an additional 1 or 2 months in an internship arranged just for you at a local farm or agribusiness location. You will stay with a French host family. You will be joined by American students from University of Maryland, University of Wisconsin (Madison), Texas A&M University (College Station), Clemson University, North Dakota State University (Fargo), University of Wyoming (Laramie), Illinois State University (Normal), and University of Minnesota (Crookston). You may register may earn up to 6 credits for the University of Maryland: 3 credits towards your major and 3 credits of foreign language. Your experience is only partially in the classroom...site visits, field trips, and two weeks of organized sight seeing (including Mont St. Michael, the Chateaux of the Loire Valley, Brittany, Normandy, and Paris!) are a major part of this opportunity.
Our own Lisa Bornt (Animal & Avian Sciences) is pictured below next to The Chateau de Chenonceau. This is a terrific program for students who have completed 2 or more semesters at UM and gives both a wonderful international experience and a fresh and invigorating look at a number of issues related to agriculture and natural resources.
Costs are low (contact Dr. Stricklin for details) and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at UM may be able to help you out with international education scholarship support. Program requirements:
- You must have completed two semesters here at Maryland
- You must be in good academic standing - cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better. You will need a 2.5 or higher to be competitive for College of AGNR scholarship support for this opportunity

- ESA (Angers) has a set fee of 1,700 EUD (Euros), that's around $2,500.
- You pay your own way (airfare plus a one-way train ride from Paris to Angers), tuition at the University of Maryland if you plan to earn credit, and whatever you want in your pocket for spending money.
- Internship on a farm: 400 EUD (about $600).
