The University of Maryland Equestrian Club (UMEC) offers students of all majors an on-campus place to learn about horses. With the department providing the barn, equipment, riding arenas and horses, the students have little to focus on except for equine care, management, medicine, riding and fun. There is a riding fee of $200 per semester for each member, but deductions are often available for additional participation or instructional help. There is also a $20 membership fee per semester. Most decisions about UMEC are made by the members under the leadership of the Directors. We offer a great opportunity to all ANSC students and we're always open to suggestions. We also try to have something for everyone to learn including basic English, dressage, bareback and trail riding, horse and farm management, veterinary care, teaching skills and much more. The UMEC is located at the campus farm. We also organize field trips and social events for members to learn more about the equine world, as well as meet new people. There is limited riding space, so get involved right away to reserve yourself a place in the most educational equine club provided by University of Maryland.
