Qualifications: Required Skills: US citizenship; valid driver`s license; ability and willingness to undergo a required criminal history background check; ability to work with minimal supervision in areas with poisonous plants and animals, allergens, temperature extremes and inclement weather. Desired Skills: Ability to drive 4WD and manual transmission vehicles; minimum of 2 years college in area related to ornithology, wildlife management/ biology, natural resources, or other biological sciences; experience in habitat survey; experience with bird identification (sight or sound).

Description: AS Patuxent River Located in St. Mary's County, Maryland, at the confluence of the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay, Naval Air Station Patuxent River comprises approximately 9,000 total acres. Land use/cover here is a mixture of urban development, forests, agricultural lands and tidal water bodies. The primary mission at the Installation involves research, development, testing and evaluation of Naval aircraft and aircraft systems. Conduct bluebird, purple martin and wood duck nest box surveys, including locating and maintaining nest boxes and banding young, 70%; care for live animals in education center, 10%; assist with deer spotlight surveys, 10%; assist with other seasonal projects, 10%.
