Description: Naval Support Facility Indian Head The installation is part of Naval Support Activity South Potomac located on the Potomac River southeast of Washington, DC. Indian Head is located in the coastal plain and is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Dominant forest cover is pine, pine-hardwood and hardwood. The combined property totals approximately 3,500 acres. Active natural resources conservation programs have been in place for over 20 years. Through this position, you will be exposed to the day to day management responsibilities that are inherent on Department of Defense installations. Provide technical assistance to the natural resources conservation programs at both installations; conduct surveys related to fish, wildlife, vegetation and land use; administer hunting and fishing programs; review plans and specifications for land use actions; coordinate program implementation with local, state and federal entities; establish and maintain databases; assist other environmental program managers when time permits
