Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have excellent communications skills and attention to detail. Candidate should be a business, communications or liberal arts major and proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to take initiative are crucial. Experience with graphic design and marketing is a plus.
Description: The intern will assist in promoting the brand of the Business Journal through both external and internal efforts. Responsibilities will include maintenance of local events calendar, assistance with the preparation and execution of several large-scale events, subscription sales, video scheduling, press releases and completion of a semester-long project. He/She will have the opportunity to interact with all departments at Washington Business Journal including editorial, production, advertising and circulation. The position offers valuable contacts and exposure in the region's business community with a unique insight into the publishing industry.
Specific projects to include: * Assist with the preparation and execution of special events * Assist in the development of presentation materials for events (including scripts, etc) * Respond to inquiries regarding upcoming events * Encourage local businesses to carry trial sub cards * Increase event nominations by contacting chambers and organizations * Work with the event management web system and manage events online
