During he undergraduate college years, Dr. Nepote was designated a George Cook Scholar and Outstanding Sophomore. She graduated with top honors. Following graduation from Rutgers, Dr. Nepote attended the University of Pennsylvania, and received her Veterinary Degree in 1973. She was the top freshman and was given an award for excellence in parasitology. Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania she was conferred with top honors. Dr. Nepote continued her education as a fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. More recently Dr. Nepote has been in Kenya as an AID grantee conducting a survey of parasites in wild ruminants.
Upon joining the University of Maryland, Dr. Nepote was responsible for teaching several courses in the Animal Sciences curriculum. She has taught anatomy of domestic animals, parasitology, and goat diseases and management. In addition, she has assisted in teaching parasitology sections of rabbit production, lab animal management, and companion animal care.
Dr. Nepote was appointed to the Animal Care Committee in 1982, and has served on the Animal Sciences Curriculum Development since 1981. She has also been heavily involved with the Admissions Committee of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and concurrently serves on the curriculum development committee.
