UMD AG DAY 1984

46th Annual Ag Day

Dedication: Kathryn H. Nepote

The Agriculture Student Council is very pleased to dedicated the 46 th Annual Agriculture Day Program to Dr. Kathryn H. Nepote, Assistant Professor with the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine-College Park Campus.

A native of Brunswick, New Jersey, Dr. Nepote attended Rutgers University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine in 1969. During he undergraduate college years, Dr. Nepote was designated a George Cook Scholar and Outstanding Sophomore. She graduated with top honors. Following graduation from Rutgers, Dr. Nepote attended the University of Pennsylvania, and received her Veterinary Degree in 1973. She was the top freshman and was given an award for excellence in parasitology. Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania she was conferred with top honors. Dr. Nepote continued her education as a fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. More recently Dr. Nepote has been in Kenya as an AID grantee conducting a survey of parasites in wild ruminants.

Upon joining the University of Maryland, Dr. Nepote was responsible for teaching several courses in the Animal Sciences curriculum. She has taught anatomy of domestic animals, parasitology, and goat diseases and management. In addition, she has assisted in teaching parasitology sections of rabbit production, lab animal management, and companion animal care.

Dr. Nepote was appointed to the Animal Care Committee in 1982, and has served on the Animal Sciences Curriculum Development since 1981. She has also been heavily involved with the Admissions Committee of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and concurrently serves on the curriculum development committee. Dr. Nepote has taught parasitology at the Blacksburg Campus of VMRCVM. She has also been the Pre-Vet advisor for students on the College Park Campus and served as advisor to the Veterinary Science Club for the past six years.

Dr. Nepote is well respected by students she has taught and advised. She supports and is active in many student activities. Throughout her years at this campus her rapport with students has been very positive. She is known among students as a caring individual and gives freely of her time to students. Dr. Nepote is emulated by many students and she is a standard for them to reach. During their years in college, students have many teachers, but few of those teachers will remain the students’ memory. Dr. Nepote is one of those teachers.

The Agriculture Student Council, along with the College of Agriculture student body, take great pleasure in honoring Dr. Kathryn H. Nepote with this dedication.
